‘120 Bahadur’ recently received a significant boost as it was declared tax-free in Delhi. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta shared on X that the decision honours the “extraordinary courage, leadership, and sacrifice” of the 120 soldiers of Charlie Company, 13 Kumaon Regiment, who fought in the Battle of Rezang La during the 1962 Sino-Indian War.She added, “As a special mark of respect to the valiant soldiers, the Delhi Government has decided to grant tax-free status to the film in Delhi from 28th Nov.”Farhan Akhtar thanked her on X, writing, “‘120 Bahadur’ is now tax-free in Delhi. Film depicts bravery of Major Shaitan Singh Bhati

Directed by Razneesh Ghai, ‘120 Bahadur’ tells the story of Major Shaitan Singh Bhati, who was awarded the Param Vir Chakra for his bravery in the 1962 Battle of Rezang La. His unit, largely composed of Ahir (Yadav) soldiers from Rewari and nearby regions, defended the Rezang La Pass, which was the first line of defence for the Chushul airfield. The film also highlights the soldiers’ struggle in harsh cold, high altitude, and isolation.

Farhan Akhtar leads strong ensemble cast

The film features Farhan Akhtar as Major Shaitan Singh Bhati, with Raashii Khanna, Vivan Bhatena, Ankit Siwach, Dhanveer Singh, Sahib Verma, Sparsh Walia, Ajinkya Deo, and Eijaz Khan in supporting roles. The cast brings authenticity to the story, portraying soldiers and civilians who faced extreme challenges.

‘120 Bahadur’ review

The Times of India rated ‘120 Bahadur’ 3 out of 5 stars. The review stated, “The film offers glimpses into how a community largely associated with farming in the plains adapted to the brutal cold, altitude, and isolation of Rezang La. There is much to discover in ‘120 Bahadur’, yet by the time the end credits roll, you’re left with mixed emotions, moved by the sacrifice, but not as deeply connected to the characters as you wish to be.The review added, “The action stands out as the film’s strongest pillar. The desperate standoffs, snipers, close-range firefights, brawls when ammunition runs out are gripping. But the storytelling falters in building tension and emotional stakes. The suffocating dread of an inevitable onslaught never fully takes hold, and the immense psychological strain on the soldiers doesn’t land with the impact it should.
