UDAIPUR: Four friends lost their lives near Nela Talab in Savina area of Udaipur district, while six others sustained injuries in a collision between two cars on the old Ahmedabad bypass early on Saturday morning, reports Claude D’Souza.The impact of the crash was so severe that both cars were completely destroyed, trapping the victims inside. Emergency services were summoned to extricate the bodies and rescue the injured passengers from the vehicles.Police said the deceased are Mohammad Ayan, 17 of Murshid Nagar, Adil Qureshi, 14, of Barkat Colony, Sher Mohammad, 19 of Mallatalai, and Gulam Khwaja, 17, of Savina. Ajayraj Singh, SHO of Savina PS, said the group gathered for Ayan’s birthday on Jan 16. After attending a “Mahfil-e-Milad” gathering near Nela Talab, the friends decided to head for tea when the fatal accident occurred. As they entered the main road, their vehicle collided with another car on the bypass, Singh said.Two other friends in the group, Wasim, 20, and Mohammad Kaif, 19, sustained serious injuries and were taken hospital, police said.The occupants of the other vehicle, travelling from Rajgarh in Churu district towards Vapi in Gujarat, also experienced injuries in the accident. The injured have been identified as Mahipal Jat (48), Rajbala (45), Rajesh (26), and Karmveer Singh (24).
