Sharad Pawar: ‘Nitin Gadkari not hesitant to speak if something is wrong’ | Mumbai News

Date:

Sharad Pawar commends Union Minister Nitin Gadkari for openly criticizing populist government schemes when necessary, even if it contradicts party lines. Pawar highlights Gadkari’s commitment to infrastructural development, specifically road construction, which prioritizes national interest over party politics, leading to significant progress in Maharashtra and across India.

MUMBAI: Sharad Pawar, the leader of NCP-SCP, has commended union minister Nitin Gadkari for his willingness to voice his opinions, even when they diverge from his party’s stance.
Speaking on Gadkari’s earlier remark on “Indians’ love for freebies” on some government scheme, Pawar on Friday noted that Gadkari consistently addresses the implications of such schemes.
Pawar noted that prime minister Narendra Modi had previously critiqued similar programs, referring to them as “Rewari culture.” Pawar said, “Nitin Gadkari has a speciality that if he feels something is wrong, he does not hesitate to speak about it, even if it is against his own government…He called these schemes Rewari culture.”
He also emphasized Gadkari’s transparency on these issues, attributing it to his extensive administrative knowledge. “Gadkari also speaks on these issues in the same way with more clarity and when he says this, the reason behind it is that he has more knowledge about many things from the administrative point of view and in my opinion, it is right for him to speak on these subjects,” Pawar said.
Transitioning to infrastructural development, Pawar praised Gadkari’s contributions to road development in India, highlighting significant progress since Gadkari became the union minister of Road Transport and Highways.
Pawar remarked on Gadkari’s decision-making approach, which prioritizes national interests over political affiliations, leading to enhanced road networks. “Today, work on many important roads is going on in Maharashtra and ever since Gadkari has become the minister of that department, the roads have developed a lot in the whole country,” Pawar stated.
Pawar expressed optimism about the ongoing road development projects, mentioning their positive impact in various regions.
