BJP’s tack for Kalyan East has taken many by surprise-sitting MLA Ganpat Gaikwad‘s wife, Sulabha, will now fight from the constituency. Gaikwad, who had often accused MP and CM’s son Shrikant Shinde of hindering his work, is in jail for allegedly shooting at Kalyan Sena chief Mahesh Gaikwad at an Ulhasnagar police station in Feb. Sena had reportedly asked BJP to part with the seat since many aspirants had been keen on contesting from it.BJP has kept up the surprise over Ulhasnagar, which does not feature on its first list of nominations. Sources said an internal survey had shown that sitting MLA Kumar Ailani is no longer considered an apt candidate and four functionaries are keen on staking a claim to the ticket.
