The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted multiple raids on Friday, targeting businessman Raj Kundra and others in connection with a money laundering case linked to the alleged distribution of pornographic and adult content. The searches spanned 15 locations in Mumbai and Uttar Pradesh, including Kundra’s residence and office.
In response to media reports linking his wife, actor Shilpa Shetty, to the case, Raj Kundra issued a strongly-worded statement on social media. “To whom it may concern, while the media seems to have a flair for drama, let’s set the record straight: I’m fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation. Claims involving ‘associates’, ‘pornographic content,’ and ‘money laundering’ won’t cloud the truth—justice will prevail!” he wrote. Kundra further expressed frustration over the frequent dragging of Shilpa’s name into unrelated matters, urging, “Please respect the boundaries…!!!”
According to Mint, Shilpa Shetty’s lawyer, Prashant Patil, also issued a statement clarifying her non-involvement. “There have been reports of ED raids on Mrs. Shilpa Shetty Kundra. These are false and misleading. She has no connection to any offence of any nature,” he emphasized. Patil urged the media to exercise responsibility, warning against the use of Shilpa’s pictures or videos in association with the case.
“The ongoing investigation pertains to Raj Kundra, who is cooperating fully. Using Shilpa’s name or visuals without basis is irresponsible journalism and may invite strict action,” the statement read.
This case adds to Kundra’s legal troubles following his 2021 arrest over the alleged production and distribution of adult content, though he has consistently denied the allegations.
