Already nursing a Rs 4,700-crore hangover in terms of overdue outstanding payments from Telangana govt, the liquor industry is now demanding a hike in producer prices (ex-distillery or ex-brewery prices), reports Swati Bharadwaj. Liquor producers are pushing for a Rs 100-275 per case price hike for various products. This includes a Rs 100-200 per case hike by brewers to Rs 175-250 per case rise by Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) players.Industry bodies cite an across-the-board escalation in input as well as logistics costs.
