Rape case fabricated, 3 get court relief after 4 years in jail | India News

Date:

DEHRADUN: A fast track court in Dehradun acquitted three men who spent four years in jail on rape charges under Pocso Act after finding that the case against them was fabricated. The court ruled that the woman, then 19, was in a consensual relationship with one of the accused and filed a false complaint after he refused to divorce his wife.
Court exonerated Khurshid Ahmed, Sattar Khan, and Mohd Shahid on Friday after examining the evidence and noted that the woman, despite knowing that Khurshid was married and had three children, was in a relationship with him and had a baby with him in November 2020.
When he refused to divorce his wife, her mother and sister lodged a rape case against him and falsely implicated his two friends, Sattar and Shahid, to pressure him. Court found that prosecution failed to prove its case beyond reasonable doubt and acquitted all three accused and ordered Dehradun jail superintendent jail to release them immediately.
