Date:

Bhopal: About 190 patients were evacuated after a fire broke out in the gynaecology and obstetrics department of Gwalior’s Kamla Raja Hospital, a part of Gajra Raja Medical College, early on Sunday. The fire started after an explosion in an air-conditioner unit of the labour room. All the patients have been shifted to a nearby hospital.
Sources said, ICU and the maternity ward, adjacent to the labour room, got filled with smoke. The hospital staff and attendants broke the windows to quickly move the patients. The evacuation continued until 4 am.
District collector Ruchika Chouhan has ordered a probe into the incident. At the time of the incident, 16 women were inside the labour room and about 50 in the maternity ward. The paediatric ward nearby also had some children. TNN
