Ameesha Patel opens up on marriage and staying single at 49: ‘I haven’t found a person who ticks the boxes in my mind’ | Hindi Movie News

Date:

Ameesha Patel, who recently made a smashing comeback with Gadar 2, is embracing her singlehood with pride. At 49, the actress has opened up about why marriage and relationships were never her priority, and why she has no regrets about walking a different path than what’s expected of most women in showbiz.
‘I don’t lack companionship, I’m just too busy for it’
In an interview with Filmy Mantra, the Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai star revealed her honest views on companionship, love, and why she remains content flying solo. “I think I am very happy with the way my life is going. I don’t lack companionship—I’m so busy with my work that there’s no space for it,” she said, dismissing the idea that marriage is a necessity.
Ameesha added that she hasn’t yet met someone who checks all her boxes. “I don’t think I’ve found that particular person who ticks the boxes in my mind. I am my own person, and I am Ameesha Patel, and I’m happy to be her.”
She also acknowledged the unique challenges that come with her profession. “It takes a lot for a man to be okay living in your shadow. That’s very tough. Of course, he has to put my happiness above everything else—and understand the long working hours, the erratic schedules, the work commitments, the crazy travel. In the middle of all this, how do I give to a relationship? I don’t think I would be able to do justice to one.”
Relationships never a priority
When asked if a relationship is even on her list of priorities, Ameesha didn’t hesitate, “Not at all. It never has been.”
Known for her glamour and sharp performances, Ameesha said she’s grateful for her journey and success. “By the grace of God, I’ve gotten so much—more than I probably asked for. As an outsider, I’ve had colossal box office success. I can proudly say that—not being arrogant, just being factual.”

Ameesha Patel Felt Betrayed

Referring to Gadar 2’s phenomenal impact, she added, “People told us you didn’t just save the Gadar brand, you saved Bollywood. They said the industry was on a ventilator—you guys took it off and gave it life.”

Still in demand 25 years after her debut, she remains grateful, “Roshan documentary is there, Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai is still being celebrated. I have so much to be thankful for.”
