Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah to inaugurate new DC office complex in Mangaluru on May 16

MANGALURU: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will inaugurate the newly built Deputy Commissioner’s Office Complex at Padil on May 16. District minister Dinesh Gundu Rao said a district-level meeting was held on Saturday to discuss the CM’s visit. Legislative Assembly Speaker UT Khader and Rao also visited the new DC office complex to inspect the premises.Rao told reporters on Saturday that the foundation for the DC office complex, which will house offices of around 23 departments, was laid by Siddaramaiah during his previous term as chief minister. The building was completed and inaugurated much earlier, but the pace of the final stage of works picked up only after the Congress govt came to power, he said. The office complex has been constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 75 crore, of which Rs 20 crore was facilitated by Mangaluru Smart City Limited (MSCL). While several departments will shift to the new premises before the inauguration, the remaining are expected to relocate within two to three weeks. On the same day, the chief minister will also inaugurate the indoor stadium at Urwa Store and participate in the 22nd quinquennial and 432nd annual Uroos of Sayyid Mohammed Shareeful Madani Dargah, popularly known as Ullal Dargah.Rao said that as part of the inaugural ceremony, the CM will distribute RTCs to over 7,000 beneficiaries as part of the Revenue Department’s ‘Podi Mukta gramas’ campaign. “We targeted distribution to at least 10,000 beneficiaries but fell slightly short. A majority of the RTCs will go to residents of Belthangady, Bantwal, and Puttur taluks,” he said.Benefits under schemes such as Sukanya Samruddhi Yojane and other welfare programmes for women, minorities, and persons with disabilities will also be distributed at the event.“The inauguration of the new DC office complex is a milestone for the district. I hope the new office will inspire greater efficiency among employees and will also provide improved facilities to the public,” Rao said.
