CHENNAI/SALEM: PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss has expelled Salem (west) MLA R Arul, an ardent supporter of party founder and his father S Ramadoss, from PMK for indulging in anti-party activities, violating party discipline and bringing disrepute to it.In a statement on Wednesday, Anbumani said Arul has been making defamatory remarks about the leadership on major news channels, media outlets and social media in the wake of the rift between the father and son over control of the party. “To examine this matter, a disciplinary action committee was formed,” Anbumani said.“While the committee was investigating, Arul was instructed to apologise to the party leadership (Anbumani) within 12 hours for his actions that violated party rules. But he failed to comply with this directive, following which, based on the recommendation report submitted by the disciplinary committee, and as per Article 30 of the PMK constitution, Arul is expelled from all positions, including basic party membership, with effect from today (Wednesday, July 2, 2025). All members of PMK are hereby requested not to maintain any form of contact with him,” Anbumani said in the statement.Meanwhile, speaking to reporters, Arul said, “Anbumani has no authority in the party, and my removal is not valid.” He added that only Ramadoss possesses the authority to expel him from the party. “Anbumani holds no power as long as PMK founder Ramadoss is present,” Arul said.
