‘Maa’ Becomes Kajol’s 8th Biggest Hit, but “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai”Shall Remains Unbeaten at 7 | Hindi Movie News

Date:

Kajol’s recent film, Maa, has become her 8th highest-grossing movie with Rs 35.64 crore after 18 days, marking a decent box-office performance. Despite a promising start, Maa experienced a significant drop in collections during its second week. It is unlikely to surpass the evergreen classic Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, which remains her 7th biggest hit with Rs 46.

Kajol, one of Bollywood’s most iconic actresses, continues to charm audiences with her diverse range of performances. Over the years, she has amassed a long list of hit films, many of which have enjoyed tremendous box-office success. Recently, her movie Maa has been making waves and has officially become her 8th highest-grossing film at the box office.

With a total collection of Rs 35.64 crore after 18 days, Maa has proven to be a decent hit, but despite this success, it’s unlikely to replace the evergreen classic Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (Rs 46.88 crore) as Kajol’s 7th biggest hit.

Maa’s Box Office Journey:

The box-office journey of Maa began with a promising opening. On Day 1 (Friday), the film earnedRs 4.65 crore, setting a decent pace. The movie’s numbers continued to grow steadily over the weekend, reaching Rs 6 crore on Saturday and Rs 7 crore on Sunday. This early momentum indicated that the film could enjoy a healthy run in theatres. However, like most films, Maa saw a significant decline starting on Monday, when collections fell by a dramatic 64.29% toRs 2.5 crore. This was followed by more fluctuations throughout the week. Despite these dips, the film’s performance remained somewhat consistent in the first week, ending withRs 26.5 crore in its first week—a solid total for a mid-range film.

Week 2: A Sharp Drop in Numbers:

The second week of Maa was less promising, with a steep 70.57% decline in collections compared to the first week. Day 8 (Friday) brought in Rs 1 crore, a 33.33% drop from the previous day. Despite a minor recovery on Saturday, with collections rising to Rs 1.75 crore (+75%) and Rs 2.35 crore ( + 34 %)the film struggled to hold onto its audience in the week. By Day 14 (Thursday), collections had fallen to Rs 50 lakh , signaling a waning interest from moviegoers.

Week 3 and Beyond:

As of Day 18, Maa has grossed Rs 35.64 crore. However, the film has shown very little potential for growth in its third week.Over the four days of Week , the film has earned only Rs 1.34 crore and going by the upcoming release like Saiyaara and existing films like Sitaare Zameen Par, , Jurassic Park: Rebirth, Maa doesnt seem to have long legs left at the box office, , further solidifying that it will fall short of surpassing Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.

Why Maa Won’t Surpass Kuch Kuch Hota Hai:

Despite Maa’s respectable position at the 8th spot in Kajol’s career earnings, replacing Kuch Kuch Hota Hai starring Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukerji and Salman Khan- directed by Karan Johar as her 7th biggest hit seems unlikely. Kuch Kuch Hota Hai has firmly etched itself into the Bollywood pantheon, not just for its box office numbers but for its cultural impact. With a lifetime collection of Rs 46.88 crore, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai is a film that continues to have a lasting appeal, especially among younger audiences who continue to discover it through digital platforms.Kajol’s biggest hits 1. Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior ₹ 277.75 Cr 2. Dilwale ₹ 148.42 Cr 3. My Name Is Khan ₹ 82.78 Cr 4. Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham ₹ 54.86 Cr 5. Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge ₹ 53.32 Cr 6. Fanaa ₹ 51.89 Cr 7. Kuch Kuch Hota Hai ₹ 46.88 Cr 8. Maa ₹ 35.64 Cr
