‘Saiyaara’ which released in theatres on Friday, July 18 has proven to be a sleeper hit. Nobody expected the film to do this business but the kind of euphoria it has created in theatres is just unprecedented. The Mohit Suri directorial which has Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda has made them into stars overnight. While Aneet was earlier seen in ‘Salaam Venky’, this one feels like her debut. Meanwhile, this is Ahaan’s first film. It recorded the biggest opening day number for a movie with newcomers. It saw growth further on Saturday and Sunday, thus clocking in around Rs 83 crore in the first three days which is the highest ever opening weekend for a love story. While on Saturday, it made Rs 25 crore, the number on day 3 which is Sunday saw a growth further. The movie made Rs 35.75 crore on day 3. On Monday, a drop in the numbers was expected as compared to Sunday and that’s normal. Yet it crossed Rs 20 crore mark on a Monday is commendable. The film minted Rs 24 crore on day 4. Now on day 5, which is Tuesday, till afternoon, the film has made Rs 6.18 crore. It may be expected that the Tuesday number will be slightly below Monday. But overall, it should be able to maintain the momentum all through the week. The total collection now stands at Rs 113.43 crore, according to Sacnilk. Even Salman Khan’s ‘Sikandar’ had failed to cross Rs 100 crore in its first four days.
