Mollywood actress Aishwarya Lekshmi has officially quit social media. The actress shared the decision with fans through an Instagram story, where she posted a long note explaining why she felt the need to step away.In her post, Aishwarya admitted that for years she believed social media was necessary to survive in the industry. “For the longest time, I subscribed to the idea that social media is much needed to keep me in the game. I thought it necessary to move with the times, especially considering the nature of the industry we are in,” she wrote.
Social media distracted Aishwarya from her work
Aishwarya went on to explain how social media had taken a toll on her creativity and peace of mind. “Somehow, something that was told would cater to us has reverse-UNO-ed and made me cater to it. It has successfully distracted me from what my work & research should be. It has taken away every original thought from me, affected my vocabulary & language, and made every other simpler pleasure joyless,” she confessed. The actress stressed that she did not want to be shaped by what she called a “generic mould,” adding, “As a woman, I have had to train myself a lot to even be aware of grooming and control, and trained even harder to resist it.”
‘Thug Life’ actress on choosing meaningful cinema over ‘likes’
In her note, Aishwarya described this move as a risk but one she felt was necessary. “I’m taking the risk here to be forgotten, and in today’s times, out of the ‘gram is out of the mind. So here is me doing the right thing for the artist & the lil girl in me – keeping her an original & choosing absolute internet obsolescence,” she shared. She ended the note with hope, writing, “Here’s hoping I create more meaningful connections & cinema in life. And if I do end up making meaningful cinema, give me love – Old Style :)”On the professional front, Aishwarya was last seen in Kamal Haasan’s ‘Thug Life’ and in Mollywood’s ‘Hello Mummy’.
