NEW DELHI: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) on Monday has asked the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the Mumbai Police to submit an Action Taken Report regarding a complaint against Netflix’s web series Ba***ds of Bollywood. The complaint concerns a scene in which actor Ranbir Kapoor is shown using a banned e-cigarette without any accompanying health warnings. The complainant argued that the depiction could mislead young viewers and promote vaping.

The NHRC has directed the authorities to provide details on the action taken in response to the complaint, as part of its probe into the matter.Netflix’s Hindi series B**ds of Bollywood, directed by Aryan Khan, follows the journey of a young man from Delhi determined to make his mark in Bollywood. Across seven episodes, the story explores the challenges he faces as he navigates the glitzy yet ruthless world of the film industry.

With a cast including Lakshya, Raghav Juyal, Sahher Bamba, Anya Singh, Bobby Deol, Mona Singh, and Manoj Pahwa, the series depicts how the protagonist’s ambition clashes with the established powers of Bollywood, testing his resolve and resilience at every turn.
