Writer -director Anurag Kashyap has delivered many successful films like Satya, Dev. D, Gangs of Waseeypur, Sacred Games etc. When he returned to the big screen with his latest film Nischaanchi- he was expected to deliver big. But the film right from its first day has found it difficult to find an audience. In his interview he claimed that Nishaanchi is his most Salim-Javed-esqe film till date. The film marked the debut of Bal Thackeray’s grandson Aishvary Thackeray in a double role. The film on its first day collected just Rs 25 lakh but it saw a major spike of more than 50 % to collect Rs 39 lakh on day 2. On day 3 the film’s collection dropped to just Rs 26 lakh. On its first Monday the film collected just Rs 12 lakh which was a more than 50 % drop from Sunday and on Tuesday where films usually spike as cinemas offer discounts – the film collected just Rs 6 lakh and on its first Wednesday the film earned just Rs 5 lakh. With that the total collection of the film has reached Rs 1.16 crore,.The Times Of India in its reviews said, ” ‘Nishaanchi’ is not a perfect film, but it is a compelling one. The runtime is heavy, and the songs don’t stay with you, but the world Kashyap builds and the performances make it worth sitting through. It mixes crime, comedy, and family drama in a way that feels both old-school and new.”The film also features Monika Pawar, Vedika Pinto, Kumud Mishra, Viineet Kumar Singh. Though before the release of the film there were talks about the film getting a second part as well but at this point going by the performance of the film, things don’t look good. Though Anurag’s films usually have a huge following when they hit the OTT platforms, with one of the producers being a streaming platform itself – one could see the revival of the film.Anurag will be next seen as an actor in Adivi Sesh and Mrunal Thakur’s Dacait which is slated to release on Christmas weekend . It would be clashing with Alia Bhatt and Sharvari’s Alpha and reboot of Anaconda with Jack Black and Paull Rudd.
