Date:

Rishab Shetty’s ‘Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1’ is shattering box office records, now the second highest-grossing film of 2025 after just eight days. Surpassing ₹336 crore, it has outgrossed ‘Kantara’ and ‘Saiyaara’. With a massive ₹61.85 crore opening day, the film is on track for ₹500 crore, with its second weekend being crucial for sustained success.

There seems to be no stopping for Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1 when it comes to its record breaking sprees. The film just completed its first week at the box office and in the last 8 days the film has jumped from 11th to 4th and now to the 2nd spot of the biggest grossers of 2025. The film on 8th day minted Rs 20.50 crore as per Sacnilk and with that the total collection of the film reached Rs 336.50 crore. With this the film has now only gone past the lifetime collection of Kantara which had collected around Rs 309 crore, it has also gone past Mohit Suri, Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda’s blockbuster film Saiyaara which had collected Rs 329.7 crore from its theatrical release. Now only one film stands ahead of Kantara 2 and that is Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava which collected Rs 601.54 crore at the box office. A week before the release of Kantara 2 there wasn’t much buzz for the film. But a day before its release, the advance booking for the film went through the roof. It collected about Rs 30 crore before the first show rolled out and it’s first day collection stood at Rs 61.85 crore. The film on day 2 saw a small dip but still collected Rs 45.4 crore, on day 3 the collections jumped to Rs 55 crore and on day 4 numbers reached Rs 63 crore. On its first Monday the film crashed by 50 % but still collected Rs 31.25 crore but on Tuesday the film again saw a jump to collect Rs 34.25 crore. Wednesday the film again fell while collecting Rs 25.25 crore and Thursday was it’s lowest collection of the week with Rs 20.50 crore. But even the small dip in the film has gone past Saiyaara’s 7 week run within just 1 week. The film will start its journey towards Rs 500 crore from today onwards, the second weekend would be very critical in deciding if the film sustains its buzz or not. Kantara 2 features Gulshan Devaiah, Jayaram and Rakimini Vasanth in pivotal roles, the makers have also announced the third part with the climax of the second part
