Varun Dhawan garnered a lot of love for his films like Judwaa 2, Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, Badrinath Ki Dulhania and many more. But post Kalank most of his films have failed to connect with the masses. . Even his earnest attempts with the action genre in projects like Baby John and Citadel: Honey Bunny didn’t get the acceptance as expected from the audience. In an attempt to gain back his loyal audience base back he ventured into known territory of rom-coms with Shashank Khaitan’s Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari with Janhvi Kapoor paired opposite him.

The film in its first week was severely impacted by Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1 . It earned just Rs 41.10 crore as per Sacnilk, while Kantara 2 went on to make Rs 337.4 crore in the same period across languages while it’s Hindi collection stood at Rs 108.5 crore..

Sunny Sanskari’s weak run continued in the second weekend as well where on Friday it added Rs 2.25 crore to its tally . On Saturday it witnessed a good jump of over 44 % where it collected Rs 3.25 crore but on Sunday the film dipped to earn just Rs 3 crore and on it’s second Monday the film earned just Rs 1.15 crore- taking the 4 day week 2 total to Rs 9.65 crore. And with that the total collection of the film has breached the Rs 50 crore mark and stands at Rs 51 crore.

The 12 day total collection has finally led the film to cross Varun’s past films like Badlapur which collected Rs 50.09 crore and Main Tera Hero which had earned Rs 50.96 crore from its theatrical business.

Varun will now be seen in JP Dutta and Anurag Singh’s Border 2 with Sunny Deol, Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty and he also has Hai Jawani To Ishq Hona Hai with his father David Dhawan which also stars Mrunal Thakur and Pooja Hegde.
