Farah Khan recently related to the frustration outsiders feel towards Bollywood insiders and admitted that she still feels financially insecure despite her success.
Farah Khan opens up about her financial insecurities
On Serving It Up With Sania podcast, Farah said, “Till now, I’m insecure about money. For me, I need to be financially secure to relax, that’s the only insecurity I have. That drive to keep working is always there. I may not be actively directing, but I’m working harder than during my primary career years. We saw our dad go from being very rich to very poor, and for several years, we lived hand to mouth.”Elaborating further, she added, “Nowadays, everyone wants a struggle story. Even those who haven’t really struggled are trying to create one out of something weird. But I’m happy that my kids won’t have one.”
Farah on outsiders’ anger towards star kids
“I can understand when people come from outside to Mumbai and have anger towards nepo babies. I can understand where that anger comes from, because they’re struggling to pay their rent every month. For them, their (star kids) struggles seem very frivolous,” the director shared.
Farah chooses content creation over choreography
In the same conversation, Farah was asked to pick between choreography and content creation. The filmmaker asked the host if she had to choose only one out of the two, she would go with content creation. Khan said, “So, maximum money is in content creation.”Her honest answer made the tennis star burst into laughter. The sportswoman said, “This is coming from a person who has made a Rs 300 crore film.” In this statement, Sania referred to Farah-directed ‘Happy New Year’, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone. The director quickly replied, saying, “No, personally, I have made the most money in content creation. But if you ask me what I want to do, that would be direction. That’s my thing.”
