Keonjhar: A former employee of a private company in Keonjhar, who allegedly siphoned off Rs 15 lakh by forging financial records, bank transactions and digital data, was arrested on Sunday. The accused was identified as Saroj Panda, a native of Bhadrak district’s Hasinpur village.Managing director of the company, Rakesh Modi, had filed a complaint alleging that Panda and his associates defrauded the company of about Rs 15 lakh by misusing the in-house software and transferring money to his personal account and of two others, Subhalakshmi Panda and Asharani Rout. He paid less money to vehicle owners and kept the remaining amount, police said.“After verifying records and recorded statements of the witness, Panda was arrested,” said Srikanta Sahu, IIC of Town police station. Police said that financial information, bank accounts and documents related to the alleged fraud have been seized.
