Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa’s romantic drama ‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’ continues to dominate the box office, showing remarkable stability even in its second week. Directed by Milap Zaveri, the film is riding high on strong word of mouth and audience appreciation. The makers have now announced that the film has crossed the ₹100 crore mark worldwide within just 12 days, cementing its place among the biggest hits of the year.According to trade analysts, ‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’ has collected ₹66 crore nett (₹80 crore gross) in India during its 14-day theatrical run. The producers, however, have pegged the number slightly higher at ₹86 crore gross. In a post shared by the production house backing the project, it was revealed that the film has earned ₹86.1 crore in India and an additional ₹15 crore from overseas markets by the end of its second weekend, bringing its worldwide total to ₹101 crore. Meanwhile, at the domestic box office, the film has crossed Rs 66 crore now despite competition from ‘Thamma’ which it clashed with on Diwali. There was a huge difference in the number of screens of both the movies. The Ayushmann Khurrana starrer released in three times more screens than ‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’. Yet, it has managed to find a decent hold at the box office. Infact, in single screens and mass dominated centres like Bihar, ‘Ek Deewane..’ has overtaken ‘Thamma’ and also many other big releases of the past. In Bihar, it has crossed the ₹3 crore nett mark in just thirteen days, surpassing all other romantic films and rom-coms, except ‘Saiyaara’. This feat also includes beating titles like ‘Tu Jhoothi Main Makaar’, which had a lifetime total of over ₹125 crore net, according to Box Office India. Meanwhile, this week one saw the release of ‘Baahubali: The Epic’ and ‘The Taj Story’ and yet ‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’ managed to still find its footing. On Monday, it made the same numbers as ‘Thamma’ and the Prabhas starrer.
