Recent wave of threats targeting Tamil celebrities
The case involving Ajith Kumar follows a similar incident targeting actor Arun Vijay. Sources said that the DGP office recently received an email from an unidentified sender claiming a bomb had been planted at Arun Vijay’s residence in Ekkattuthangal. Police and bomb squad personnel examined the property but found nothing suspicious. In recent months, several high-profile figures in Tamil cinema have been the subject of such hoax alerts. In October, music composer Ilaiyaraaja’s T Nagar studio was also targeted in a fake bomb threat. Other prominent personalities, including Rajinikanth, Dhanush, Vijay, Trisha, and Nayanthara, have reportedly faced similar incidents.
The growing pattern of threats aimed at public figures has sparked concern among Chennai residents and renewed discussions about tightening security at celebrities’ homes.Beyond celebrity residences, several key locations in Chennai — including the Chief Minister’s residence, the Opposition leader’s home, the Governor’s Mansion, and major railway stations — have also received bomb threats in recent months, contributing to a heightened sense of unease in the city.
