Tom Felton returned to his wizarding roots as he reprised his iconic role as Draco Malfoy in ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’ on Broadway.The British actor received a standing ovation, thunderous applause, hoots and cheers, as he took to the stage for the first time since last putting down his wand in ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2’.

Videos from the actor’s Broadway show that went viral on social media, saw the actor maintaining his composure and a stoic expression as the applause from the audience continued for over 30 seconds. The actor was seen attempting to deliver his lines before choosing to stop and wait for the whistling and cheering fans to quiet down. “I need a favour,” he begins. The epic moment was captured by the play’s official Instagram account, which shared the video with the caption, “It’s true then, what they’re saying on the train,” a line from Malfoy’s dialogue in ‘Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone’.Felton’s return marks the first time he’s stepped back into Draco’s shoes since the eighth Harry Potter film ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2’ wrapped up in 2011. The actor’s casting in the stage production was first announced in June, and Felton admitted it was an emotional experience slipping back into character. “It’s very, very easy to get emotional,” he told reporters. “When they put my blond wig on for the theatre production, I just immediately cried. It was just sort of like a blast from the past.”
