Jagdish Patani, the father of actress Disha Patani, has been granted a firearm license by the Bareilly district authorities, according to a senior official on Sunday. The retired DSP made a request to the Bareilly District Magistrate after gunmen targeted Disha’s ancestral home. In response to the attack, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath assured him of protection and security.
Official confirmation of licence issuance
According to the Free Press Journal, Bareilly District Magistrate Avnish Singh stated that Patani applied for a weapons license after the attack on his home. After completing all the necessary procedures, Patani was issued a licence for a revolver/pistol.
Attack and police action
On September 12, 2025, two men riding a motorcycle opened fire with around 10 bullets near Patani’s house, according to authorities. The Kotwali police registered a case, and just five days later, on September 17, a combined force from Uttar Pradesh’s Special Task Force (STF), Haryana STF, and Delhi police encountered and killed the suspects, Ravindra and Arun, in Ghaziabad. Anurag Arya, Senior Superintendent of Police in Bareilly, confirmed that security arrangements at Jagdish Patani’s residence will remain in place.
