Actor Tara Reid hit the headlines on Tuesday, after she claimed that she was drugged while at a hotel bar. The actress, who shot to fame for her role in ‘American Pie’, recounted the frightening episode that reportedly left her unconscious and in hospital. Sharing the details with TMZ Live, she said, she was “convinced” someone slipped something into her drink while she left it unattended.
Reid lost consciousness at the bar
According to Reid, she went down to the bar after checking into her hotel in Rosemont. She told TMZ that she ordered a glass of wine before stepping outside to smoke, accompanied by one of several YouTubers she had encountered in the lobby.On returning to her seat, Reid said she noticed a napkin placed over her wine glass — something she insists she did not do. She removed the napkin and continued drinking. “The next thing I remember, I was in the hospital,” she said.Video obtained by TMZ showed Reid being taken out of the hotel on a wheelchair and later lying on a stretcher as paramedics transported her to a nearby hospital.
Hospital staff alleged she was “drugged”
Reid alleged that once she regained consciousness, hospital staff told her she had been drugged. However, she also acknowledged that the explanation she received was “vague,” and she did not ask what substance might have been involved. The actor emphasised that despite her past struggles with substance abuse, she had consumed only one glass of wine that night.The actor described the experience as terrifying and said she feels “lucky” as she said, “I could have been raped.”
No police report filed
Rosemont Police confirmed that while the actress was transported to a hospital, the department received no report alleging drugging and that, as of now, no such complaint has been filed.
Reid considering police complaint
Reid said she is considering filing a police report to investigate what happened, particularly as several YouTubers were filming around the time of the incident. As of now, no official complaint has been submitted.
