UP’s LLRM Medical college to ‘expel employees’ if they feed dogs; contrary, BJP MLA urges to give food to stray | Bareilly News

BAREILLY: Lala Lajpat Rai Memorial (LLRM) Medical College’s principal has issued a strict warning stating that anyone found feeding or sheltering stray dogs on campus will face action — including cancellation of their accommodation allotment. In a message circulated in an internal group, Principal R C Gupta wrote, “I am informed that a few faculty members/employees are keeping/feeding dogs on the campus. If anybody is found doing these activities, his/her allotment will be cancelled. Later on, any request or apology will not be entertained. The government has taken serious cognisance of dogs roaming in hostels, hospitals and public places.”On the contrary, BJP Minister in charge Dharampal said, “Earlier, dogs used to have divided neighbourhoods,” and one dog wouldn’t venture into another’s neighbourhood, providing food there. If you do the same, dog bites will stop.”The principal move comes days after a video surfaced showing a stray dog eating from a woman doctor’s plate inside a hostel mess.Gupta said he has written at least six letters in the past three years to the Municipal Corporation to catch stray dogs, but no effective action has been taken.According to him, whenever the college tries to act, animal welfare groups object and “threaten” him.Vineet Chaprana, a student leader, told TOI, “I condemn the principal’s message and it is not a way to address any issue.”
