Seema Pahwa finds appeal in family-centric stories. Having delved into a fractured household in the latest web series ‘Perfect Family,’ she now immerses herself in Sooraj Barjatya’s signature universe of expansive, affectionate clans known for their heartfelt values. She’s thrilled to contribute to ‘Prem Ki Shaadi,’ featuring Ayushmann Khurrana and Sharvari, as filming unfolds.
Praises Sooraj Barjatya’s vision
In an interview with Mid-day, she said, “The film is shaping up beautifully. Soorajji’s films continue to be connected to our values and families. I am hopeful that this one will turn out as lovely as his past works.” Throughout her extensive career spanning four decades, Pahwa has seamlessly navigated between different mediums and roles, never prioritizing one over another.
Balancing film and theater
While currently involved in shooting for a major film, she is also preparing to act in and direct the play ‘Kuch Panne,’ which is scheduled to premiere on December 9 during the ongoing Rangshila Theatre Festival in Mumbai. She elaborates that it’s always exciting to be a part of a theater festival because it creates an audience that is in the mood for the play. Usually, when someone goes to see a play, by the time someone gets into the mood, the story is over. But in a theater festival, the audience is in the mood to enjoy the performances.
Denies Aamir Khan remake role
There were reports that producer Aamir Khan had chosen Seema to direct the Hindi remake of the 2022 Malayalam black comedy ‘Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey.’ On being asked about the film, she states, “We had a conversation with Aamir Khan. He wanted me to direct, but some things didn’t work out. I’m not doing that film.” It is said that Khan has dropped the project, as he was unable to assemble the right cast.
Gearing up for second directorial
Seema Pahwa, who debuted as a director with the critically acclaimed ‘Ramprasad Ki Tehrvi,’ is gearing up for her next venture behind the camera. She mentions, “I am taking [my second film] on floors soon. The prep is on. I like family-oriented stories. So, I can’t make anything far removed from that space. The new story is also about relationships.”
