The Delhi State Legal Services Authority (DSLSA) has announced a new date for the next National Lok Adalat session in the capital, giving motorists and litigants more time to prepare their cases. The event, earlier slated for December 13, 2025, will now take place on January 10, 2026. The rescheduling follows a Delhi High Court directive declaring December 13 a regular working Saturday, which clashed with the planned settlement drive.With the revised schedule, all district court complexes: Tis Hazari, Rohini, Dwarka, Saket, Patiala House, Karkardooma and Rouse Avenue along with the Delhi High Court, Debt Recovery Tribunals, consumer commissions and Permanent Lok Adalats will hold simultaneous sessions. This ensures full participation across the city’s dispute-resolution bodies.The National Lok Adalat is particularly important for motorists, as it offers an opportunity to clear large backlogs of pending traffic challans. Only compoundable offences qualify for settlement, which include violations such as signal jumping, overspeeding within permissible limits, wrong parking, missing PUC certificates, faulty number plates or helmet and seatbelt violations. More serious cases like drunk driving or accident-related offences will continue to be handled by regular courts.
How to get your cases settled
Before visiting the Lok Adalat, vehicle owners should check for pending challans on the Parivahan e-Challan portal or the state traffic police website. Carrying the challan copy, vehicle RC, driving licence and valid ID is recommended.For those who already have a case pending in court, an application must be filed before the concerned court, tribunal or commission to have it listed for the January 10 session. Pre-litigation matters can be submitted directly to DSLSA. Some courts may also offer online token booking, though applicants should verify details through court helpdesks or the DSLSA website.
