Dancer and actor Lauren Gottlieb, who was supposed to fly to Dubai on Friday, informed paparazzi outside Mumbai airport that her flight had also been cancelled. Expressing her frustration over the situation, she advised people to avoid travelling with IndiGo for now. Over the past three days, huge crowds of passengers have been spotted at airports across India as several flights were delayed or cancelled. The airline has issued two apologies so far, expressing regret for the continued disruptions.
Viral paparazzi video outburst
A paparazzi video captured Lauren dragging her bags out of Mumbai airport as she vented her outrage to reporters. She issued a stark warning amid the chaos of widespread IndiGo flight disruptions. She said, “This is public service announcement. Do not take IndiGo. Everything you are seeing online, is so… what’s happening. It looks like the apocalypse inside. All the flighs to Dubai, where I am going- cancelled! Everything cancelled. There are hundreds of people in there. It looks like some disaster has happened and I feel trauma right now. Do not fly IndiGo, especially now, maybe not ever. But especially now. Just don’t do it!”.
Scale of flight cancellations
According to the report, IndiGo has cancelled over 1,000 flights in the last four days. These cancellations have severely impacted key airports such as Delhi, Bengaluru and Hyderabad, with hundreds of flights being abruptly called off. The airline issued an apology for the significant disruption and cautioned passengers to expect more cancellations through Friday, explaining that it had started “calibrated adjustments” aimed at stabilizing its operations within the next 48 hours.
Airline’s official response
An official spokesperson for IndiGo addressed the ongoing disruptions as of 6:10 pm, stating on behalf of the airline, “We acknowledge that IndiGo’s operations have been significantly disrupted across the network for the past two days, and we sincerely apologise to our customers for the inconvenience caused.”
