James Cameron’s ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ continuesd its strong run at the Indian box office, maintaining a steady pace on its second Tuesday despite facing stiff competition from the Bollywood blockbuster ‘Dhurandhar’.

According to early estimates, ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ earned an approximate India net collection of Rs 5.25 crore on Day 12, taking its total collection to around Rs 148.15 crore across all languages. While the film witnessed a noticeable dip in collections during its second week, it has managed to maintain its grip at the ticket windows.The film had a strong opening week, collecting an estimated Rs 109.5 crore in its first seven days. However, collections dipped significantly in the second week, with earnings of around Rs 38.65 crore, a sharp decline considering the pre-release buzz and expectations surrounding the film.

‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ occupancy

In terms of occupancy, the film recorded an overall 29.23 per cent occupancy in English, continuing to lead its box office performance. The Hindi version registered an overall occupancy of 18.67 per cent, while the Tamil version stood at 17.54 per cent.The occupancy matched the language-wise collection figures. Reports on Sacnilk, show that ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ earned approximately Rs 64.6 crore from the English markets, followed by Rs 48.75 crore from the Hindi belt. The Tamil version has contributed an estimated Rs 21.63 crore, while the Telugu dubbed version stands at around Rs 12.49 crore. Meanwhile, the Kannada and Malayalam versions together have earned an estimated Rs 58 lakh.

‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ vs ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’

While ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ has not managed to surpass the box office benchmarks set by earlier films in the ‘Avatar’ franchise. In fact, the film has still to cross the week 1 numbers of ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’, which went on to score an India net collection of Rs 391.4 crore.

It must be noted that ‘Fire and Ash’ continues to hold its ground amid intense competition. The film is currently contending with the Bollywood blockbuster ‘Dhurandhar’, which has already crossed the Rs 700 crore net mark in India and surpassed the Rs 1000 crore mark at the global box office. It will face added competition at the box office with the release of ‘Ikkis’ the new war drama, debuting on the big screens on January 1.With the upcoming extended weekend, ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ is set to cross the Rs 150 crore milestone today and set its course for the Rs 200 crore mark.
