Netflix might have started the year on a high, thanks to ‘Stranger Things Season Finale’, but fans of the OTT giant now are facing disappointment as several beloved shows are not returning to the platform in 2026 — including ‘Wednesday’ and ‘Ginny & Georgia’. Although these series have strong fan followings, delays in production and long filming schedules mean they’ll be missing from the 2026 content lineup.
Shows NOT returning in 2026
One of the most talked-about absences is ‘Wednesday’. The popular supernatural mystery comedy, starring Jenna Ortega, became a global hit. While the show has been renewed for a third season, it won’t be released in 2026. ‘Wednesday’ takes a long time to film and edit, partly due to elaborate sets, special effects, and the lingering impact of past Hollywood strikes. As per reports, production for Season 3 is expected to begin in early 2026 with a target release in 2027. Similarly, ‘Ginny & Georgia’ — teen-drama favorite — will not return with new episodes in 2026. The show was renewed for both its third and fourth seasons back in 2023, but Season 4 is currently still in production and running into early 2026. That long production time means fans will likely have to wait until late 2026 or even 2027 for the next season.

Series to look forward to
Other series also missing from the 2026 slate include ‘Untamed’, ‘Ransom Canyon’, and ‘Forever’ — all of which were renewed but postponed due to extended filming and post-production schedules. These shows are now expected to return no earlier than 2027.However, it’s important to note that these are delays — not cancellations. Meanwhile, the OTT giant is still bringing back many other popular shows in 2026 — ‘Bridgerton Season 4’, ‘One Piece’, ‘The Witcher’, ‘Virgin River’, and ‘Beef’.This essentially means, for viewers, 2026 is going to be the year of patience — more than mere excitement. New seasons of some of their favourite shows will be released in 2026, sure. However, others will take longer than expected. Meanwhile, fans can binge-watch the shows that are already available or are expected to drop sometime this year on the platform, while waiting patiently for their favourite shows to make their comeback.
