Ranchi: The state tourism department on Wednesday unveiled an expansion plan for the popular Patratu Lake Restort in Ramgarh district. The Jharkhand Tourism Development Corporation (JTDC)-owned and operated facility will now have 100 additional rooms a 25-acre integrated leisure development to strengthen the site’s appeal as a premier regional destination.Tourism secretary Mukesh Kumar reviewed Paryatan Vihar and Sarovar Vihar, the two JTDC-owned hotels which have 20 rooms each.“We are working on a comprehensive value addition programme for the Patratu site. We are planning to add about 100 more rooms in a phased manner, including 20 to 25 lake-facing cottages with parallel structures,” Kumar said. He added that a detailed presentation on the proposal was held on Wednesday, and the plan will be placed before the state cabinet for approval. The proposed 25-acre park will have 17 acres for a new water park and seven to eight acres for hospitality and event infrastructure. “This will help promote destination weddings and events in a cost-effective manner for tourists from nearby cities who are looking for budget-friendly options,” said Kumar. The value addition programme is proposed to be implemented through a long-term public-private partnership model. “Four-star or five-star hospitality operators may be selected on a lease model of around 50 years. They will undertake the funding and overall overhaul, which will minimise direct govt expenditure,” Kumar said.
