Govt aims to cut prices of key kitchen items via retail sales

NEW DELHI: In a first of its kind large-scale retail market intervention, central govt entities are selling onions at Rs 35 per kg across more than 150 centres in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Guwahati, Ranchi, Kolkata, Patna and Bhubaneswar. It is also carrying out bulk sale across cities to bring down prices of key kitchen item, consumer affairs department said.
The department said subsidised onion sale initiative started on Sept 5 brought down prices in major cities.tnn
