The release of Alia Bhatt’s highly awaited spy film ‘Alpha’, has repotedly been postponed one again. Just weeks after the makers bowed out of a Christmas 2025 release, new reports indicate that the upcoming film of the YRF spy universe, may not be able to keep its April date with the audience. As per trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the film’s release has been rescheduled to avoid a box office clash with Salman Khan’s war drama ‘Battle of Galwan’.

Shortly after the teaser of the highly awaited war drama dropped online, Taran announced the development on his social media handle, in a post that read, “#BreakingNews… ALPHA AVOIDS CLASH WITH BATTLE OF GALWAN – YRF TO DECIDE ON A NEW DATE… #AdityaChopra steps aside for #SalmanKhan, moving Alpha from its previously announced release date of April 17, 2026, to avoid a direct clash with BattleOfGalwan.”

According to his post, the same date was originally eyed by team ‘Alpha’, which stars Alia and Sharvari in lead roles. He added, “…but the makers will now announce a new release date after assessing the theatrical release calendar over the next couple of months.”

‘Alpha’ postponed for second time

This marks the second postponement for the film. It was previously postponed allegedly due to additional post-production requirements, including extensive visual effects work. Had the film stuck to its December release, it would have clashed with the Ranveer Singh starrer ‘Dhurandhar’, which was also a spy thriller and hit the Rs 1,000 crore mark at the worldwide box office in just 22 days. The film is now the second fastest Hindi film to cross this milestone, just behind Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Jawan’.

‘Alpha’ new release date

‘Alpha’ is now expected to hit theatres sometime in the second half of 2026.Directed by Shiv Rawail, the film is the sixth instalment in the Spy Universe, which includes franchises like ‘Tiger’, ‘War’ and ‘Pathaan’. The film was officially teased in a post-credits scene in ‘War 2’. Although Alia’s did not grace the frame, it is believed that the younger version of her character featured in the clip, alongside Bobby Deol.
