The family dispute over late businessman Sunjay Kapurās will has taken a fresh twist. On Wednesday, his mother, Rani Kapur, revealed that she hasnāt been left anything in it. The will is already being challenged by Sunjayās children and his ex-wife, Karisma Kapoor, who claim it was forged by his third wife, Priya, to take over his assets.
Rani Kapurās claims in court
At the court hearing on Wednesday, Rani Kapur said there was something āincredibly unholyā about the will.Rani Kapur told the court that she has been left with nothing from her son Sunjay Kapurās estate. She explained that despite sending several emails asking about the will and related documents, she never received any information and was instead told her emails had been hacked. Her side argued that assets worth around Rs 10,000 crore, which she believed would go to her, were instead placed in a trust. At 80 years old, she now feels abandoned, with no home or security. They also raised concerns over how quickly things shifted in favor of Sunjayās third wife, Priya Sachdeva, just months after their marriage.
Karismaās children move court
Karisma Kapoorās children, Samaira Kapur and her 15-year-old son, have approached the high court to claim their share of the late Sunjay Kapurās assets. The court has also officially registered their plea. The plaint states that Sunjay never spoke about leaving behind a will, and neither Priya nor anyone else ever mentioned its existence. It further alleges that Priyaās actions clearly suggest the will has been fabricated by her.
Priya Kapurās response
Priya told the Delhi High Court that the two children had already received Rs 1,900 crore from the family trust and questioned why they were seeking more.Priyaās lawyer opposed the childrenās claims in court, telling Justice Jyoti Singh that itās not as if anyone has been left without support. The lawyer also argued that even though the will wasnāt registered, that doesnāt make it invalid. The court issued notice to Priya and posted the matter for October 9.
