Anurag Kashyap has opened up about his strained relationship with his brother, director Abhinav Kashyap. While Abhinav made headlines for his bold comments against top Bollywood stars, including Salman Khan and his family, Anurag has chosen a more reserved approach.

Speaking on Gamechangers, when asked whether he helped Abhinav after the industry sidelined him, the ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ director said, “He is independent-minded. He looks at cinema differently and has very different thinking. He has always been a business-minded man who understands it really well.”

The ‘Dev.D’ director shared how his brother’s view of films was always practical and rooted in commerce, unlike his own love for the art of cinema.He said, “Since the very beginning, he saw films as commerce, and I was a cinephile. He came here to study management. When I used to be at home and any work came to me, I used to feel like not doing it. He used to tell me, ‘Main karvaata hu (I will get it done).’ Vo khud karta tha mere naam par, mujhe pata bhi nahi chalta tha (He used to do it under my name, and I never even realized).”

Abhinav Kashyap’s biggest success came with Salman Khan’s blockbuster ‘Dabangg.’ The film became a massive hit and made him one of the most talked-about new directors in Bollywood. However, his journey after that was not as smooth.He later claimed that he was treated poorly by Salman Khan and his family during the shoot of ‘Dabangg’ and was allegedly removed from the sequel through a text message. Following that, Abhinav directed Ranbir Kapoor in ‘Besharam’ and co-wrote the 2007 hit film before slowly stepping away from mainstream projects.
