By 1996, the maestro was invited to perform his first-ever concert in Malaysia at Stadium Shah Alam, a venue filled with over 40,000 eager fans. We had planned the entire show flow. The countdown began, and the crowd was going wild. According to Gattani, a team member named Savio rushed backstage, only to return saying Rahman was unwilling to face the crowd. “Sir, he is not coming out. Rahman is stiff, saying he doesn’t want to go on stage,” Savio reported. Finally, it took a literal push to get Rahman onto the stage.
