AMRITSAR: At least 10 people have died after consuming spurious liquor in villages under the Majitha block of Amritsar district in Punjab late Monday night. Station House Officer (SHO) police station Majitha Avtar Singh informed that most of the victims belong to Bhangali and Marari Kalan villages, where the illicit liquor is believed to have been consumed.SHO Singh confirmed that ten people have lost their lives and they are further investigating.Sources informed that authorities have launched a probe into the source of the liquor.A similar incident occurred in Bihar in January, this year when seven people died in West Champaran district after consuming spurious liquor. The deaths, which occurred over several days, led to an investigation by local authorities.
