The buzz around the highly awaited ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ trailer hit a new high on Wednesday, after fans noticed a mysterious “private video” listed on Marvel Studios’ YouTube channel. Fans spotted the unlisted clip, under the Official Trailers playlist, immediately sending social media into a frenzy and triggering widespread theories that the long-awaited trailer could just drop online on Thursday. Many, interpreted the private upload as a sign that Marvel is gearing up for a major reveal this week, well in time before the trailer takes over the big screens with the release of James Cameron’s ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’.
Private video sparks frenzy
Amid the fan meltdown, Marvel has maintained stoic silence on the subject. Interestingly enough, an unverified post claims that “The private video on Marvel’s official playlist is actually an old Iron Man 2 trailer, not the Avengers Doomsday teaser. There’s still no confirmation on when the new trailer will drop.”Various news reports have claimed that ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ will debut directly on the big screen, much like Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey’. Reports claimed that the teaser trailer will be attached to ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’, which is slated to hit screens next week, on December 19.
Rating and runtime revealed
The teaser trailer for the highly anticipated film has been in the news since it was listed on South Korea’s Media Rating Board, an official service used by studios to register and approve trailers before they are released online.According to the listing, the ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ teaser has been granted a UA (all ages) rating and runs 1 minute and 25 seconds. Although it is only a teaser, the runtime is longer than several recent Disney “first look” videos, which typically clock in at under 50 seconds.
About ‘Avengers: Doomsday’
If confirmed, the trailer drop would mark the first substantial look at one of Marvel’s most anticipated projects, with the return of the Russo Brothers, the directing duo behind the billion-dollar sagas ‘Infinity War’ and ‘Endgame’ and Robert Downey Jr, heading back to the MCU, this time as the villain, Doctor Doom. The film is rumoured to bring together the X-Men, Fantastic Four, the New Avengers while also bringing back favourites like Thor, Loki, Doctor Strange and many others. The film will set up a two-part finale of the MCU’s multiverse saga which will reportedly end with ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ which is slated for release in 2027.
