Bokaro: The owner of a coal processing plant and her son were shot at by unidentified assailants while on their way home on Wednesday night. The incident took place near Upperghat under the Pek Narayanpur police station limits, nearly 45 kilometres from here. The mother and her son, Shiva Kumari (55) and Shivam Kumar, escaped unhurt in the incident.In her complaint with the Bokaro Thermal police station, Shiva said four men riding two bikes signalled their car to stop near Godonala area at Pilpilo (in Upperghat) around 11 pm. The duo was returning from Coal Factory, their coal processing plant at Rama Hariya. However, their driver did not slow down the car. The men then fired at their vehicle. Two rounds hit the rear of the car.Shivam pulled up at the Bokaro Thermal police station and informed the cops about the incident. They were taken to DVC Hospital for medical examination, where both were declared safe. Bokaro SP Harvinder Singh reached the site of shooting and inspected the scene hours later. “An FIR has been registered, and investigation is being carried out,” Singh said.Shiva, in her statement, claimed that the attack had been ordered by a coal trader based in Dhanbad. The trader has been pressuring her over a financial dispute and trying to take over her factory, she added. “Preliminary investigations suggest the firing was linked to a money dispute. The vehicle has been seized for forensic examination, and a special team has been formed to identify and arrest the accused,” a police official said.
