Emma Stone, the Oscar-winning actress, challenges herself with experiments in every way possible for the films – whether it’s acquiring a foreign accent or a new prototype for an emotion that shapes the generational perception. Well, for her upcoming thriller film Bugonia, the 36-year-old had to shave her head and, in fact, convince her daughter that it’s alright.
Emma Stone convinced her daughter
Keeping her 4-year-old daughter in mind, Emma Stone wanted to be super ready so the little girl wasn’t scared of her. “I just said, ‘I’m going to shave my head. I’m going to take my hair off, and it’s going to grow back. Isn’t that so silly and fun? We can do whatever we want with our hair! It can change all the time.’ She’s like, ‘OK,’ and then was totally cool,” she recalled during a chat with USA Today. Stone plays Michelle Fuller, the CEO of a pharmaceutical company, who is kidnapped by two theorists after they are convinced that she is an alien who wants to destroy the planet. In the process, they shave her head, so that she does not contact her mothership. While the story plot deserves a bald head, Stone needed to shave her hair. However, there was only one chance to cut her hair on camera, as even the slightest flinch would ruin the take.
Emma Stone and her slight cold feet
Director Yorgos Lanthimos was prepared with four cameras, ensuring the takes are not ruined and the technology is not jammed. Moreover, they kept delaying the take, which made Stone get a slight cold feet. But she calmed herself in a meditative state, realizing that even if she opened her eyes, it would be messy. Along with Stone, the absurd dark comedy film’s cast members include Jesse Pelmons, Stravros Halkias, Aiden Delbis, and Alicia Silverstone.
