Govinda and his wife Sunita Ahuja have been in the public eye for decades. Over the years, rumours about their marriage have often made headlines. But despite all speculation, the couple has always stood by each other and denied any issues in their relationship.
Sunita recalled Govinda’s struggling days
Tina once shared that her parents, Govinda and Sunita, got married despite her grandfather not attending the wedding. She said in a past interview with Hauterrfly, “My mom used to wear hot pants, lived in Pali Hill, came from a very rich background. My dad was not that financially strong. He was struggling from Virar. My maternal grandfather was very well to do comparatively. It was a very Bollywood story where he told my mother, ‘Are you crazy? He is an aspiring actor’. He didn’t even attend the wedding because he was not too happy with the whole thing.”
Sunita’s father’s disapproval stemmed from concerns about lifestyle differences. Sunita, raised in a wealthy family, would have to adjust to a very different way of life with Govinda. Despite this, she boldly chose to marry him, showing her determination and love.
Govinda praises his wife as family’s child
Govinda recently appeared on the show ‘Two Much’ with Kajol and Twinkle, where he spoke about his long-standing relationship with Sunita. He lovingly called her “the child of the family” and praised her for being the heart of their home. He said, “She is a child herself. My children handle my wife as if she’s a child. Sunita is like a kid, but the responsibilities that she was given, she could manage our household only because she is what she is. She is an honest child. Her words are never wrong. It is just that she says things that she shouldn’t.”The ‘Partner’ actor also reflected on the difference in thinking between men and women. He admitted that he sometimes struggles to see things from Sunita’s perspective. “The problem with men is that they can’t think on those lines. I always believe that man runs the house but women run the whole world,” he said.Govinda and Sunita tied the knot quietly, keeping their marriage a secret until the birth of their daughter, Tina Ahuja, in 1989. They later welcomed their son, Yashvardhan, in 1997.
