CBFC suggests 23 cuts in Tiger Shroff starrer ‘Baaghi 4’ despite ‘A’ rating, exposing scenes and many dialogues also cut – Deets inside |

Date:

Tiger Shroff has largely built his career on films that appeal to audiences across age groups. But his upcoming release Baaghi 4 marks a shift. For the first time, the actor headlines an adults-only film — the ‘A’ rating granted due to its heavy dose of violence and gore. Interestingly, even with the restricted certificate, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) insisted on multiple modifications, Bollywood Hungama has learned exclusively. The film received certification on August 26, just ahead of its global release on September 5. However, the Examining Committee (EC) demanded as many as 23 cuts, both visual and audio according to a report by Bollywood Hungama. Among the notable deletions was a shot of the protagonist standing on a coffin. Another scene showed a character lighting a cigarette from a ‘niranjan diya’, which the EC asked to be completely removed. A gesture involving a hand on a girl’s hip was also altered. A frontal nude scene was discreetly covered up.

The scissors came down harder in a particularly graphic moment where a cigarette was lit from an amputated hand — a 13-second sequence that was removed entirely. Shots showing a knife hurled towards a statue of Jesus Christ, along with a blow causing the statue to lean, were also excised. Violence was further toned down across several moments. The EC deleted three throat-slitting shots, multiple hand-chopping visuals, and two sequences of goons being killed with swords. An 11-second stretch of extreme brutality was dropped, and a graphic killing where a sword is thrust into a skull was struck out. On the audio front, several dialogues and terms were modified or muted. The phrase “bhang b*****a” was changed, while “b**e” and “fingering” (used by cops) were replaced with milder words. In the line “Bhai tujhe condom mein hi rehna chahiye tha”, the word “condom” was muted. Similarly, “Tera wajood hi mit jaayega God” was altered to “Sab dekhte reh jayenge.” The dialogue “Woh bhi darta hai mujhse” was removed completely, while “Don khoke, ekdum ok” was muted. After implementing these modifications, the CBFC cleared Baaghi 4 with an ‘A’ certificate. The initial runtime, as per the censor certificate, stood at 163.50 minutes — that’s 2 hours, 43 minutes, and 50 seconds. But the changes didn’t end there. On August 29, just three days later, the makers voluntarily approached the CBFC again to trim down the film. They shortened 19 sequences, cutting a total of 6 minutes and 45 seconds, bringing the final runtime to 157.05 minutes (2 hours, 37 minutes, and 5 seconds).
