Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi and discussed key development issues related to the state. He expressed gratitude to the central government for its consistent support and said that, under the Prime Minister’s leadership, Uttarakhand is prepared to play a significant role in achieving the goal of a Developed India by 2047.During the meeting, Dhami presented the PM Modi with a replica of the Kartik Swami Temple, a coffee table book on the Adi Kailash Yatra, and local products from Uttarakhand including Kanar ghee, red rice from Purola, Basmati rice, black cumin, Gandhrayan herb, Jambu herb, and local honey.The chief minister urged the Prime Minister to instruct concerned departments to develop the Haridwar Ganga Corridor, Rishikesh Ganga Corridor, and Sharda Corridor in Champawat, following the model of the Kedarnath and Badrinath master plans, with financing through CSR funds.He also requested the following:
- Development of Nepa Farm in Udham Singh Nagar into a semiconductor hub
- Extension of the Delhi–Meerut RRTS to Haridwar
- Inclusion of route construction in the Tanakpur–Bageshwar and Rishikesh–Uttarkashi rail projects
Dhami informed the Prime Minister about the upcoming Nanda Raj Jat Yatra in 2026, calling for the development of eco-friendly infrastructure for the event. He invited PM Modi to attend the grand Himalayan pilgrimage in August 2026 and sought Rs 400 crore in financial assistance from the Centre.Speaking about the 2027 Mahakumbh in Haridwar, Dhami said preparations were underway and requested Rs 3,500 crore from the central government for related infrastructure projects including bridge repairs, parking, electricity, water, sanitation, and transport facilities.The chief minister also sought approval for a Rs 1,015 crore DPR under the RDSS scheme for undergrounding high and low-tension power lines and automating the power system in Rishikesh and Haridwar.Dhami mentioned the state’s ongoing efforts to restore the heritage site Chaurasi Kutiya near Rishikesh and requested its approval by the National Board for Wildlife, stating that the funding was already arranged.He also shared a preliminary proposal for linking the glacier-fed Pindar River to rain-fed rivers like Kosi, Gagas, Gomti, and Garud. He said this would benefit around 2 lakh people in 625 villages across Bageshwar, Almora, and Nainital, and improve drinking water access for over 1.25 lakh residents in towns like Garud, Kausani, Dwarahat, Ranikhet, and Almora. He requested that this project be taken up under a special central government scheme.Dhami also sought approval for five hydropower projects with a total capacity of 596 MW, based on recommendations from a committee headed by the Cabinet Secretary.The Prime Minister asked for detailed information on the Char Dham Yatra, Adi Kailash Yatra, Nanda Raj Jat Yatra, Mahakumbh preparations, and the Jal Jeevan Mission in Uttarakhand.PM Modi assured CM Dhami of full support from the central government for the state’s development.
