Patna: Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary on Thursday directed all districts to launch a special drive against the playing of obscene and double-meaning songs in public places. He warned that strict legal action—including FIRs and seizure of sound systems—will be taken against violators. Issued ahead of Holi, the directive underscores zero tolerance for such content at events, ceremonies, and in vehicles, citing its impact on women’s dignity and children’s safety.Choudhary said, “Playing such songs in public places, events, and vehicles will not be accepted under any circumstances. Cheap double-meaning and obscene songs have become a serious problem for society. They affect the dignity and safety of women and make them feel uncomfortable.” He added that such content also negatively influences children’s thinking, calling it a “serious social concern that cannot be ignored.The deputy CM further stated that the govt is committed to ensuring the safety of women and children. Keeping this in mind, the police administration has been instructed to take strict action against the use of obscene and double-meaning songs. Special drives will be conducted across all districts during Holi.Choudhary said, “During the campaign, obscene songs played in public places, vehicles, and events will be identified. FIRs will be registered under Sections 296, 79, and other relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. If necessary, sound systems will be confiscated, and action will also be taken against organisers and vehicle drivers.”He emphasised that maintaining a healthy and safe social environment is the government’s responsibility and asserted that there will be no compromise on women’s dignity and children’s future.
