A week is all it took for Syrian rebels to end five decades of Assad rule in Syria. Sweeping down from Aleppo in the northwest, the rebels quickly captured Hama and Homs before entering the capital Damascus. Bashar al-Assad fled before the rebel fighters could reach him.
