CHENNAI: Police on Thursday arrested a fake tourist guide on the charge of sexually assaulting a 46-year-old French woman on a spiritual visit to the holy town of Tiruvannamalai in Tamil Nadu, reports Selvaraj A.
Police identified the accused as Venkatesan Rajamanickam, 29.
Tiruvannamalai SP M Sudhakar said, “We acted swiftly and apprehended the suspect within hours after the survivor’s complaint.” He fractured his leg when he tried to escape when a police team led by Satish Kumar, ASP, cornered him at a hideout on Tuesday, a day after the incident, he said.
