First full train trial run on world’s highest rail bridge successful

JAMMU: Indian Railways on Thursday successfully conducted the first full train trial run on the world’s highest railway bridge built on Chenab river in J&K, connecting Sangaldan in Ramban district to Reasi.
“Trial run of MEMU train conducted at a speed of 40 kmph,” railways spokesperson said, adding that rail services on the line will start soon.
Railways had conducted a successful engine trial run on the bridge, 359 metres above Chenab river, on Sunday.
The 1,315-metre-long bridge is part of Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link project which is scheduled to be completed by the year end.
