Patna: The RJD launched a sharp attack on the NDA on Saturday, accusing the ruling alliance of attempting to influence voters in Bihar through financial inducements but committing a major blunder in the process.Taking to social media, the RJD claimed that NDA leaders and officials, in a hurry to secure electoral support, mistakenly transferred Rs 10,000 meant for women beneficiaries into the bank accounts of men.The party shared copies of two letters sent to male recipients by Jeevika, asking them to return the money and citing a technical glitch as the reason for the error. The RJD alleged that the NDA’s eagerness to consolidate power resulted in a flawed execution of what it termed a vote-buying exercise. It claimed that the money was wrongly credited to men’s accounts and that the NDA was now sending what it described as “love letters” requesting the return of the funds.Mocking the situation, the RJD said Bihar was grappling with serious socio-economic challenges such as starvation, inflation, migration and unemployment, making it unlikely that recipients would return the money. “How long will you hide the rigging of EVMs and govt formed with vote theft and misusing govt machinery,” the party said. The RJD also raised concerns over recent crimes, including the rape and murder of a minor girl in Rohtas and the killing of a BMP jawan in Siwan on Friday night, who was run over by an SUV while chasing liquor smugglers.Reacting to the allegations, BJP state media head Danish Eqbal said the opposition was continuously opposing the Mahila Rozgar Yojana aimed at empowering women. He said the scheme involved large-scale transfers and minor technical issues were possible. “But the good governance shows that the glitches were identified and worked on. However, since the beginning, the RJD has been opposing the empowerment of women, but we will continue to work in that direction,” he said.On law and order, he added that deputy CM Samrat Choudhary, who holds the home department portfolio, was closely monitoring the situation. “There will be crime in a society. However, our govt works towards catching hold of culprits in 24 hours, putting them behind bars and giving justice to the victims,” he said.
