Gold futures opened the week on a stronger note, helped by safe-haven buying as investors reacted to fresh geopolitical tensions. Reports suggesting that US President Donald Trump may move to restrict exports of advanced artificial intelligence hardware to China lifted sentiment in the bullion market, prompting traders to hedge against potential volatility. On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), gold futures for December delivery traded higher, rising Rs 483, or 0.4%, to Rs 1,21,715 per 10 grams. The contract recorded a turnover of 13,230 lots. The uptick comes after a weak performance last week, when prices slid by Rs 2,219, or 1.8%.According to the World Gold Council’s latest Gold Demand Trends report, investor interest remained the driving force in the third quarter. The WGC noted that global demand rose on the back of strong exchange-traded fund (ETF) inflows, which crossed 222 tonnes.
